Icebergs and Glaciers - by boat
The ocean is never out of reach from the the amazing Ammassalik area, in fact it has been the primary source of food and income for hundreds of years. During the endless days of summer, the sea is accessible and not completely blocked by ice, instead it is dotted with incredible icebergs like something out of a dream.
To begin our day tour, we will sail between these floating beauties to the mountainous Apusiaajik Island. Here we will find the glacier majestically calving down from the island and into the sea. After the spectacular show, we head back to the Kulusuk Island to witness the famous red, yellow and green houses coupled with a drum dance if the weather allows, that characteristically defines the area.
After the boat excursion we head back to Kulusuk village for a short visit of the village with its characteristic red, yellow and green houses. We will visit the charming church and a small family run museum/collection and if we are lucky we might get to experience a demonstration of a drum dance by one of the local people. The walk back to the airport is about 3 km (boat transfer is optional).
We fly out from the Reykjavík Domestic Airport and check-in begins 60 minutes prior to departure. As soon as you arrive in Greenland, our guide will greet you with a sign, which you can't miss.
